Two percussionists play a single marimba. The idea is to have the student playing the higher part improvise (after two statements of the theme) while the second student continues playing their part in the lower register. Then the theme is reprised to conclude. Since the structure and modes used are not overly complex, this exercise offers pedagogical value in developing students' creativity.
